Daryl says, “Just imagine having the greatest story ever written, sitting right there, and a certain few – the Deaf – didn’t have access to it, yet everyone else did. And this story held the key to life, a future, and eternity.”
There’s a scene in Luke 14 where Jesus tells a story of a man who throws an elaborate dinner party and sends his servant out to invite many dignified guests. He says in verse 17, “Come, for everything is now ready.” But instead of being thrilled to receive such an important invitation, many guests made excuses for why they could not attend. The man becomes indignant and commands his servant to “Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.” And, again, in verse 23, “Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full…”
God has prepared a splendid banquet feast with a beautiful invitation to Deaf people around the world. His table is set with the best china, silverware, and linen. His love is so deep for all people – including the Deaf, that He spares no expense. Now, imagine that day when all will receive their invitation!
Daryl envisions what that day will be like. “Imagine, the reason you exist is because of this story, and now you have access to it…now, [you] have the Deaf Bible. And, now you realize your purpose. Imagine having access to it…how great that is.
That’s what I see. [Deaf Bible offers] an opportunity [for Deaf people] to have a relationship, a future and meaning [with Christ]!”
